Golden pop phenomenon MIKA releases his brand new single ‘Blame It OnThe Girls’ through Casablanca/Island Records on February 15th 2010.
Taken from his acclaimed second album ‘The Boy Who Knew Too Much’, ‘Blame It On The Girls’ is a massively happy slice of timeless, sing-along. pop bliss, marrying skittering percussion and hand claps with floor-stomping piano and a swoon-worthy chorus, and opens with Mika doing his best impression of a 50’s movie star.
The single comes with fantastic mixes from mighty Wolfgang, Paul Woolford, Anoraak & Starsmith and an old-school video spectacular directed by acclaimed director Nez, who has recently shot promos for Lily Allen and Kid Cudi amongst others. The video features some genius Busby Berkeley style choreography and Mika backed by a troop of fantastic half male half female dancers!
Already a live favourite, ‘Blame it on the Girls’ raised the roof at the Roundhouse as he closed this years iTunes Festival. Other recent shows at Sadlers Wells, Latitude and Bestvial have given an early taster of what’s to come on the UK leg of Mika’s massive world tour in 2010. The first legs of the tour have seen Mika cause pop mayhem across the US and his star rise in Asia, taking global sales of the album to over 1.5 million across the world so far. In fact ‘The Boy Who Knew Too Much’ entered the Top Ten of every single iTunes Top Ten around the world.
Now one of the most respected live performers around, Mika has become a huge TV favourite with live performances on everything from Later with Jools, Jonathan Ross and the Royal Variety show in the UK to the likes of Ellen and Letterman in the US and the grand final of Australian Idol, where Mika played live on the steps of the Sydney Opera House, which was turned Golden especially in his honour! Coming up Mika will also be playing on the UK version of US hit show ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ live on BBC1 in January.
