Tinchy Stryder

Tinchy Stryder was the biggest selling male artist of 2009, and video for single 'Number 1' feat. N-Dubz was officially the most played Video of 2009 so to be nominated for a BRIT award for best song for 'Number 1' is the icing on the cake for this Star In The Hood.

Tinchy, real name Kwasi Danquah, was born in Ghana in 1986 and moved to East London at a young age. He was brought up and still lives in one of the capital's most dangerous boroughs - Tower Hamlets; yet despite his tough upbringing he has a distinctly positive outlook on life and is determined to provide a positive role model for kids across the country and bring grime music into the mainstream, and with a BRIT award nomination to top it all, it seems he's achieved this.

Having started making music aged just 13, along with his crew 'Ruff Sqwad' of whom he is still a part, Tinchy has seen through the years the negative press that the music he loves has received and is on a mission to change this. From as early as 13 neighbours including Wiley and Dizzee Rascal saw something in Tinchy and asked to work with him.
