We just had ourselves a chat with Andrew Lloyd Webber about the state of British music today. He thinks it’s fighting fit because of the new pressure on musicians to tour. It’s the only way to make money nowadays he said, given the fact that selling music doesn’t make a penny since people can sneakily download for free.
He also championed Amy Winehouse, reminding us that he defended her when she was booed off the stage in Birmingham by an irate audience. He knows the ins and outs of live performance given his 40 plus years on stage.
