Adele wins MasterCard British Album

Adele’s third studio album 25 has won the MasterCard British Album at the BRIT Awards 2016.

Adele’s 25 took home the trophy over Florence + the Machine’s How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful, Coldplay’s A Head Full of Dreams, James Bay’s Chaos and the Calm and Jamie xx’s In Colour.

The album spent seven weeks at number one in the UK Album Charts, overtaking Oasis’s Be Here Now as the fastest UK selling album of all time. A month after its release the album had sold more than 16 million copies worldwide.

Adele previously won the award for her second album 21 in 2012, as well as picking up British Female Solo Artist, and British Single for ‘Skyfall’.
