Man with a Plan

Shaun Springer

...that’s Shaun Springer of MasterCard

He’s the Head of Brand, Sponsorship and Digital Marketing for MasterCard in the UK & Ireland , a role that has included overseeing The BRIT Awards for the last three years, which must be the perfect gig for a man who declares himself to be “passionate about music”.  And it shows.

MasterCard is now in its fourteenth year as the main sponsor of The BRIT Awards, a partnership that continues to evolve in a spirit of mutual collaboration and consistently produces great results.   Take, for example, MasterCard’s competition Something for the Fans.   In its first year, in 2010, its Priceless Gig competition winner was treated to a performance by The Pet Shop Boys in her own living room, complete with stage set, neon lighting and backing dancers - an experience the winner, Lorraine Sands, said “will stay with me forever more”.   And that, Shaun Springer will tell you, is what it’s all about:  “Priceless experiences”.

This year’s BRIT Awards competition builds on that concept even further.  Fans have a chance to win a duet with chart-topping artists JLS,  Labrinth,  Emeli Sandé  or a mystery artist, with the winners’ duets being broadcast on ITV1 in the show’s idents on the night of the Awards.  It goes without saying that these Priceless experiences will most definitely stay with the lucky winners forever.

MasterCard’s portfolio of sponsorships always aims to be associated with the leading events in a particular field – what Shaun describes as “the jewels in the crown”. This includes The Olivier Awards for theatre and the UEFA Champions League, now in its nineteenth year of sponsorship with MasterCard. And the highlight of Shaun’s time working with the BRITs? Meeting fellow Bajan, Rihanna, at last year’s event – for him, a truly Priceless experience!
