Coming soon, watch out for more news
Forget the pageantry of most award shows, those boring displays of polished-to-perfection pomp and circumstance. The BRIT Awards is the rebel cousin of the awards show family, a live show where not even the producers know what to expect. Every year’s been packed with off-the-cuff shenanigans, musicians off their nut pulling stunts on live telly that you have to see to believe. Well, now you can.
We’ve archived highlights from more than two decades of BRITs madness for your awe-inspiring pleasure. Take a trip down memory lane and relive the top moments from the past 27 shows. Click through the years listed above for info on past winners and past musicians making a spectacle of themselves.
Introducing the Critic's Choice Award!
She’s only 19 but Adele has been the lady on everyone’s lips tonight. She’s scooped the new BRIT category of Critic’s Choice Award. Reggie interviewed her onstage and she seems overwhelmed but thrilled.
She also receives the biggest cheer of the night thus far. Adele will be touring the majority of 2008 it seems so don’t miss the chance to catch her in action. It’s stunning stuff.
And PS! This BRITs is all about the ladies. Every time Kate Nash’s name is dropped the cheer is immense.
Not many people can rock pink puffy trousers and a pink hat and face net but by God, Natasha Khan can work it. She reinterprets her song What’s A Girl To Do. Sigh. She’s fab.
The launch party begins...
It’s been a bloody big year for Editors. Not only do they have a second album that went to number one but Tom Smith – that’s the singer don’t you know – is going to become a father. Edith Bowman is pregnant!
But that’s enough of the gossip. They opened the Brit’s launch party in style launching into their single Smokers In The Hospital. Epic!
So epic in fact that some girl at the bar said to her friend: “Who is this?”
The reply: “REM.”
Erm. Well, not quite but I’m sure they’d be flattered by the comparison!
Which celebs are where?
DJ, drag queen and ambassador for FABULOUS, Jodie Harsh is enjoying a pint at the bar with her fabulous teased blonde bouffant.
Two girls are swooning because Chris from Hollyoaks (character name Justin) is in the crowd. Weirdly they’re not impressed with the satchel he’s sporting.
Kelly Osbourne is doing a stellar job presenting. Anytime she fluffs the line, the crowd rallies round her with cheers. Nice.
The Roundhouse awaits
BRITs.co.uk is here, set up and raring to go.
Stars, special guests, BRITs School students and all round general liggers are now filing through the door and jostling for a places at the bar.
Earlier this afternoon here at the mighty Roundhouse you could see runners running, drummers drumming and people who hand out passes and carry clip boards standing around trying to look important.
As we set up in the Press Room on Level 2 we were treated to both Bat For Lashes and Editors ripping through their respective rehearsals in the main hall.
Kim Taylor-Bennett our official BRITs site reporter is currently down on the press run ready to pounce on anyone who comes her way…interviews are on the way.
