The British Single category for the BRIT Awards 2015 reads like the ultimate party playlist for last year. Ten very familiar tracks are pitted against each other for the crown with regular BRITs nominees Mark Ronson, Calvin Harris and Ed Sheeran taking on the likes of Ella Henderson, George Ezra, Sigma and Duke Dumont, all nominated for the very first time.

Vocalist Jess Glynne makes two appearances in the shortlist for her work with Clean Bandit on ‘Rather Be’ and with Route 94 on ‘My Love’. Sam Smith completes the list with a nomination for his track ‘Stay With Me’ which hit the top of the UK charts in May 2014. Smith leads the way at the BRITs in 2015 with five nods in total.

The list is packed with No. 1 singles with George Ezra’s ‘Budapest’ the only song not to have found its way to pole position. ‘Budapest’ reached No. 3 upon release in June but is still yet to leave the Top 40 having spent 37 weeks in the charts by the time of Nominations.

Like fellow nominees Sam Smith and Ed Sheeran, George Ezra will be performing at the BRIT Awards 2015 ceremony on February 25.

The BRIT Awards 2015 take place at London’s O2 Arena on 25 February and will be broadcast live on ITV at 8pm GMT. See all the nominations here.
