British Single Nominations Announced

This year’s British Single nominees are an even split between previous nominees (including last year’s winner) and newcomers to the category.

Little Mix took home the award for ‘Shout Out To My Ex’ in 2017 and are up again this year with ‘Touch’. They are joined by Clean Bandit who earn their third British Single nomination since 2015 and are also up for British Video this year. Jonas Blue is also no stranger to this category, earning his first nomination at The BRITs 2017.

Calvin Harris earns two award nods in 2018. Since 2009 he has been nominated 12 times across three different categories, but is yet to win. Ed Sheeran has been nominated for British Single three times previously.

First timers in this category include last year’s Critics’ Choice and British Breakthrough winner Rag’n’Bone Man. He is up for two further awards in addition to this one. J Hus performed his nominated single ‘Did You See’ at the Nominations Launch party and is up for another two awards this year. Jax Jones earns his first ever nomination.

Liam Payne will be hoping to take home his eighth BRIT award - his first as a solo artist. As part of One Direction, Liam won seven BRITs before the band went on hiatus in 2015.

Dua Lipa is also a first time nominee in this category, and the most nominated artist at this year’s awards - she is nominated in five categories total.

The BRIT Awards 2018 take place at London’s O2 Arena on 21 February and will be broadcast live on ITV. You can see all the nominations here: www.brits.co.uk/nominees
