INTERNATIONAL MALE SOLO ARTIST NOMINATIONS ANNOUNCED

Bon Iver, Bruno Mars, Drake, Leonard Cohen and The Weeknd are this year’s nominees for International Male Solo Artist at The BRITs on 22 February.

Bruno Mars has previously reigned supreme in this category, having won it in both 2014 and 2012. His third studio album ‘24k Magic’ went to No. 3 in the UK Album charts last year.

Mars is nominated alongside Bon Iver, who also featured in this category back in 2012. The indie-folk artist, also known as Justin Vernon, released his third studio album ‘22, A Million’ last year, which peaked in the UK Album Charts at No. 2.

This is the second consecutive year of being nominated in this category for Drake and The Weeknd, both of whom performed at The BRITs last year. Drake’s single ‘One Dance’ spent a massive 15 weeks at the top of the charts last year and The Weeknd’s single ‘Star Boy’ peaked at No. 2 in the UK Singles Chart.

Our final nominee, Leonard Cohen, sadly passed away in November last year - a week after releasing his final album, ‘You Want It Darker’. This is Cohen’s first BRITs nomination.

The BRIT Awards 2017 take place at The O2, London on 22 February and will be broadcast live on ITV. You can see all the nominations here.
