Goldierocks - BRITs 2011 blog - Part 2
So the UK is a buzzing, post BRIT Award nomination announcements. The night itself went off with a bang... an awesome live performance from Ellie + Tinie, Jessie J looking sizzling hot in what can only be described as full body fishnet stocking and me giggling like a school girl at Olly Murs *cringe*.
Katie Waissel & Paige Richardson were milling about backstage along with nominees The Wanted who asked me into their dressing room for a quick goss about how they rate against JLS.
It was announced that Arcade Fire, Mumford & Sons & Rihanna were all going to be performing at the ceremony. As well as Grammy award winning Adele, who I can’t wait to see live! The Jamie XX remix of Rolling in the Deep is well worth checking out, oh- I wonder if they may do a live collaboration as they’ve both been nominated for an award?!
Tinie is leading the way with four nominations and it seems he has the support of the UK urban music scene too, with Loick Essien & DJ Ironik both giving him a thumbs up on the night. As did hot one to watch Wretch 32, when I asked him who he was backing: “It’s amazing and inspiring to see someone from my world (Tine Tempah) be rightly recognized by such a respected musical institution” and Loose Cannons of KISS FM also sang his praises “If best single doesn’t go home with either Tinie Tempah or Plan B, I’m gonna pack my bags & quit the country. End of” as well as Gemma Cairney & Twin B of BBC 1xtra “Tinie’s musical earthquake in 2010 thoroughly warrants him his 4 nominations, the nominations for all the different categories encompass the ever diverse pop scene and I find that refreshing”. Well that’s that then! Tinie- the pressure is on!
My money is on Biffy Clyro for best british group and Katy Perry for best international female. Who do you want to win? So it’s less than three weeks till the big day!
