Ed Sheeran named BRITs 2012 British Breakthough Act

Ed Sheeran has won the British Breakthough Act award at the 2012 BRIT Awards.

After building a name for himself on the UK's live scene, Ed broke into the mainstream in 2011 with a string of huge hits and album '+'. He was this year's most nominated BRITs artist, picking up four nods.

Ed triumphed over the likes of Anna Calvi, Emeli Sande, Jessie J and The Vaccines to take his second award of the night and also performed at the 2012 BRIT Awards.
