Ed Sheeran named BRITs 2012 British Male Solo Artist

Ed Sheeran has won the British Male Solo Artist award at the 2012 BRIT Awards.

The pop newcomer, who effortlessly blends folk and hip-hop on his debut album '+' has triumphed over some stiff competition from fellow British Male nominees James Blake, James Morrison, Noel Gallagher and Professor Green.

Ed was this year's most nominated artist, with a grand total of four nominations just months after the release of his debut album. He said: "I really didn't expect to get this one."

The young star scored three Top Ten hits in 2011 with his singles 'The A Team', 'You Need Me, I Don't Need You' and 'Lego House'.
