Red Carpet blog: we meet the arriving stars

We've come straight from the Red Carpet, and what a Red Carpet it was. So many stars, so little time. The 2012 BRIT Awards with MasterCard is packed with celebs.

With our backstage host Phil Clifton we chatted with Alexandra Burke, Rita Ora, Ed Sheeran, Stooshe, Katie Melua, Anna Calvi, Foster The People, Plan B, Chase & Status, Little Mix and many more.

The stars looked stunning, but for us the standouts were Jessie J in red lace, and Kylie Minogue in a gorgeous blue satin dress. Tinie Tempah was also looking very sharp, and really suits the winter beard he's currently sporting.

The biggest screams of the night were, unsurprisingly for X Factor boyband One Direction, who are nominated this year for the British Single award.

It was a long couple of hours but amazing to see the biggest stars in the music industry arrive for an event we've been planning for for nearly a year! After chatting to us, all the artists headed off into The O2 to take their seats for this year's BRIT Awards - or in some cases, head backstage to get ready to perform.

All the Red Carpet coverage is broadcast on ITV2 from 7-8pm and the ceremony will be live on ITV1 from 8pm.
