Nominations for British Group

Arctic Monkeys are looking to win their third BRIT for British Group and One Direction their first as they go up against breakthrough acts acts who are also nominated for British Breakthrough Bastille, Disclosure and Rudimental.

The Sheffield band had a fantastic 2013 with their fifth album AM – which has also been nominated for MasterCard British Album of the Year - presenting a new sound for the band and won them a host of new fans. With stunning shows across the world, including a headline set at Glastonbury, they will also provide a stunning start to the Awards on February 19.

After winning the Global Success Award at last year’s BRITs, One Direction are looking to be recognised as the leading band in the UK after a year which saw them have the biggest selling album of 2013 with Midnight Memories and a blockbuster film.

It’s been a pretty extraordinary rise for each of Bastille, Disclosure and Rudimental who’ve all been given the nod ahead of a host of more established bands. Each of their debut albums went to No. 1 in the UK and they have received multiple nominations at this year’s BRITs.

The BRIT Awards 2014 take place at London’s O2 Arena on February 19 and will be broadcast live on ITV at 8pm GMT. Click here for a list of all the nominees.
