BRIT Awards newcomers 5 Seconds of Summer take on established rockers Foo Fighters and The Black Keys, plus indie offerings First Aid Kit and The War On Drugs.

This is the first time 5 Seconds of Summer, First Aid Kit and The War on Drugs have been BRITs nominated, though 5SOS made a splash on the red carpet at The BRITs 2014. Foo Fighters and The Black Keys have both been nominated, and won, in this category in previous years.

Foo Fighters have an impressive 100% conversion rate on their BRITs nominations: they have won three out of the three awards they’ve been nominated for, including two International Group wins, in 2008 and 2012. In 2008 they also won Best International album for ‘Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace’.

Black Keys have also won in this category, taking home the award in 2013. In fact, Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl not only presented the award in 2013 but also accepted it on behalf of The Black Keys who were unable to make the ceremony!

The BRIT Awards 2015 take place at London’s O2 Arena on 25 February and will be broadcast live on ITV at 8pm GMT. See all the nominations here.
