BRITs Week returns for 2016 with exclusive one-off gigs and events

In celebration of the most prestigious night in the UK music calendar, BRITs Week will take place once again in the lead up to The BRIT Awards 2016 with MasterCard, hosting a series of special one-off gigs and events in London in the days leading up to the main event.

Three shows will be individually curated by Warner Music UK, Sony Music UK and Universal Music UK, with a fourth curated by independent record labels. One ticket price will apply for all shows and a contribution from all tickets will once again go to War Child. Line up details for all shows will be announced soon.

BRITs Week is a joint partnership between the BPI and AEG, one of the world’s leading live music promoters and owner of The O2, London, and London First, a business membership organisation with the mission to make the capital the best place in the world to live and work. London & Partners, the official promotional company for London, have been appointed as media partners.

BRITs Week will host a series of pop up stages in London programmed with new talent, emerging artists and future awards winners.

BRITs Week 2015 hosted amazing live shows by BRITs nominees and performers such as George Ezra at the Brixton Electric and Royal Blood at KOKO, plus The Charlatans at the Brooklyn Bowl, with the proceeds of tickets sold going to War Child. Take That headlined the annual War Child BRIT Awards pre-show at the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire, marking their most intimate show produced in years.

War Child presented their own series of small gigs during BRITs Week under the banner of Passport Back to the Bars, which saw British acts Duran Duran, The Vaccines, You Me At Six, David Gray, Elbow and Ride (Mark Gardener and Andy Bell acoustic) play intimate shows in both London and Manchester, with tickets obtained via a ballot system.

BRITs Week 2015 helped contribute to the £500k raised for War Child across all the activity for the awards show.

Geoff Taylor, Chief Executive BPI and BRIT Awards, said "The BRIT Awards celebrate the outstanding success of British Music, whether shining a spotlight on new artists or showcasing the talent of our greatest stars to a global audience. The BRITs Week gigs enable the BRITs to engage with an even wider audience and salute the special relationship they enjoy with their London home - the world’s most dynamic, creative capital. And, let’s not forget, along with the money that will be raised for War Child, BRITs Week also acknowledges the vital role that our small and medium sized venues play in the music ecosystem."

The BRIT Awards 2016 with MasterCard will be held at The O2 in London on Wednesday 24 February 2016 and will be broadcast live on ITV.
