INTERNATIONAL FEMALE SOLO ARTIST NOMINATIONS ANNOUNCEMENT

Beyonce, Christine and The Queens, Rihanna, Sia and Solange are this year’s nominees for International Female Solo Artist.

Five-time nominee and two-time winner Rihanna is no stranger to this category and has had an epic 12 months. As well as her performance at The BRITs last year, her album ‘Anti’ and single ‘Work’ both topped the charts. Rihanna also features in the British Video category for her collaboration on Calvin Harris’ single ‘This Is What You Came For’.

Beyonce, who won International Female Solo Artist back in 2004, has been nominated in the category a further three times. Her sixth studio album ‘Lemonade’ peaked at No. 1 in the UK charts and stayed in the Top 40 for a huge 29 weeks.

Little sister Solange sits alongside Beyonce with her first BRITs Nomination. Solange released her debut album ‘A Seat At The Table’ just four months after her sister’s album dropped.

This is Sia’s second nomination for International Solo Artist, missing out on the award in 2015 to Taylor Swift. Sia’s seventh studio album ‘This Is Acting’ reached No. 4 in the UK charts.

Newcomer Christine and The Queens has stormed the charts and dominated the festival season in 2016. The French artist is one of the most talked about artists of the year and has seen her album ‘Chaleur Humaine’ make waves worldwide.

The BRIT Awards 2017 take place at The O2, London on 22 February and will be broadcast live on ITV. You can see all the nominations here.
