James Bay, Jess Glynne and The Weeknd to perform at BRITs 2016

James Bay, Jess Glynne and The Weeknd to perform at The BRITs

Ahead of tonight’s (14 January) announcement of The BRIT Awards 2016 nominations,  we are delighted to reveal three more performers. Last year’s Critics’ Choice winner, James Bay, Jess Glynne and breakthrough Canadian artist The Weeknd will be performing at the main ceremony.

With over a month to go, this year’s main event is already living up to expectations of being the biggest night in the UK music calendar. Adele, Justin Bieber and Coldplay were announced in December as the first performers for the show, which takes place on 24 February.

Last year, British singer-songwriter and guitarist James Bay won the 2015 BRITs Critics’ Choice Award. That was followed by a No. 1 for his debut album, ‘Chaos and the Calm’, which achieved platinum status.

Not content with just performing at tonight’s ‘The BRITs Are Coming’ ITV show, Jess Glynne will be back to perform at the BRITs 2016 at The O2 Arena. Her debut album, ‘I Cry When I Laugh’, went double platinum, and five of its singles hit the top spot, making Glynne the biggest selling debut artist of 2015.

Singer/songwriter/producer Abel Tesfaye, aka The Weeknd, has taken the UK by storm with his hit singles ‘Can’t Feel My Face’, ‘The Hills’ and ‘Earned It’. His No. 1 album, ‘Beauty Behind the Madness’ was released in August to critical acclaim.

In other news, this year’s BRITs will also see the return of popular TV broadcaster Laura Whitmore and KISS radio presenters Rickie Haywood-Williams and Melvin Odoom! They will host the official BRITs Red Carpet and BRITs After Party shows for ITV2 on the night, giving viewers all the latest behind-the-scenes gossip and exclusive interviews. This will be Laura’s fifth time hosting these special shows, with Rickie and Melvin taking on the duties for a second year.

The BRIT Awards 2016 with MasterCard will take place on Wednesday 24 February 2016 at London’s O2 Arena and will be broadcast live on ITV.  Ant & Dec will return as hosts.

MasterCard is celebrating its 18th year of sponsoring the BRITs with its Priceless Surprises campaign, which sees some of the biggest artists in the world helping fans to share their love of music. To find out more, visit pricelesssurprises.co.uk.

Google Play Music is the official streaming and download partner for the BRITs 2016.  Live performances from the night will be available to stream and download from Google Play just after the awards, with all proceeds being donated to this year’s official charity partners, Nordoff Robbins and The BRIT Trust.
