British Breakthrough Act Announced
This year’s British Breakthrough Act nominees include the 2017 Mercury Prize winner Sampha, J Hus, Loyle Carner, independent artist Dave and this year’s BRITs most nominated artist Dua Lipa.
Sampha’s debut album, ‘Process’, won the Mercury Prize last September. He was shortlisted alongside Loyle Carner, who is nominated for British Male as well as British Breakthrough at this year’s BRIT Awards and J Hus, who is up for a further two awards at the 2018 ceremony.
Dua Lipa could potentially go home with five BRIT awards this year - as well as British Breakthrough Act she is up for British Female, Mastercard British Album, British Single and British Video.
The final nominee in this category, Dave, released his second EP ‘Game Over’ fully independently at the end of 2017 and reached No. 13 on the UK charts.
