BRITs Duo On Track To Reach Dizzee-ing Heights in UK Charts

The BRIT Awards with MasterCard 2010 could be on the way to making chart history this weekend as Tuesday night's show-stopping rendition of "You Got The Dirtee Love" by Award winners for Best Album, Florence and the Machine, and Best British Male, Dizzee Rascal, rockets its way up the iTunes and UK Official Download charts.

Exclusively released on the iTunes Store (www.itunes.co.uk), less than 5 hours after the spectacular 30th anniversary showcase, the upbeat track - a mash-up of the iconic single "You've Got The Love" and hip-house classic "Dirtee Cash" - marks the first time in the history of the awards ceremony that a live performance from the show has been officially released as a single.

Online sales of the single currently position the duet at Number 1 in the UK iTunes Chart - an encouraging sign for the BRIT Trust, which will receive a donation from every track purchased on the site before 18th March 2010.

BPI Chief Executive and Trustee of the BRIT Trust, Geoff Taylor said:

"The 5.8 million viewers who tuned in to watch the BRIT Awards this week were treated to a truly memorable performance by Florence and Dizzee. I’m delighted that both artists have agreed to donate proceeds to the BRIT Trust and hope that music fans will take the opportunity to download this unique collaboration and support the charitable work of the Trust."

The BRIT Trust is the charitable arm of the BPI, set up in 1989 and entirely funded by the music business. Its mission is to give young people a chance to express their musical creativity regardless of race, class, sex or ability.
