BRITISH FEMALE SOLO ARTIST NOMINEES ANNOUNCED

The nominees for British Female Solo Artist 2017, in association with Apple Music, range from first-time nominee Nao to multiple-BRIT winner Emeli Sandé. But who will take home this year’s award?

Ellie Goulding and Emeli Sandé have both also won the British Female award in years gone by - Goulding in 2014 and Sandé in 2013. And as with Adele, both artists are former BRITs Critics’ Choice winners too! In 2013, Sandé won the Mastercard British Album of the Year award for her debut album ‘Our Version of Events.’

Anohni, the artist formerly known as Antony Hegarty, receives her first British Female nomination (though Antony and the Johnsons was nominated in the British Male category in 2006). 2017 marks Lianne La Havas’s first BRITs nod - though she joined Alan Carr to present the award for British Artist Video to One Direction in 2016.

Nao too receives her first ever BRITs nomination this year, following the release of her debut album ‘For All We Know’ in July 2016. Nao rose to prominence after featuring as a vocalist and writer on Disclosure's UK No. 1 album ‘Caracal’ in 2015.

The BRIT Awards 2017 take place at The O2, London on 22 February and will be broadcast live on ITV. You can see all the nominations here.
