Review

The Eurythmics – who oddly had never won a BRIT as a duo despite Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart’s 11 individual wins – finally got one when they were honoured in the Outstanding Contribution category and they celebrated by duetting with Stevie Wonder.

Under the watchful eye of new host Johnny Vaughan, David Bowie teamed up with Placebo while a special Abba tribute featured B*Witched, Billie, Cleopatra, Tina Cousins and Steps. Muhammed Ali was given the special Freddie Mercury award by Bono, Robbie Williams collected three awards, Natalie Umbruglia did the double and Manic Street Preachers repeated their Best Group and Best Album success from two years earlier.
